The first worldwide official trailer for Ken Loach’s Palme d’Or winning, I, DANIEL BLAKE, confirmed to arrive in UK cinemas October 21st has been released. Take a look at the footage in the video player above.

The acclaimed film is Ken Loach‘s second Cannes Palme d’Or win and sees the director team up again with screenwriter Paul Laverty (The Wind that Shakes the Barley, Jimmy’s Hall, The Angels’ Share). I, DANIEL BLAKE stars British comedian, Dave Johns and Hayley Squires (A Royal Night Out). The film takes an honest look at the UK welfare system with a story that is heartfelt, humorous and brutally moving.

I, Daniel Blake

Here is the official synopsis for the movie: Daniel Blake (59) has worked as a joiner most of his life in Newcastle. Now, for the first time ever, he needs help from the State. He crosses paths with single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy
and Dylan. Katie’s only chance to escape a one-roomed homeless hostel in London has been to accept a flat in a city she doesn’t know, some 300 miles away.

Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern-day Britain.

I, DANIEL BLAKE is scheduled for release October 21st, 2016.
