If you missed the incredibly scary OCULUS at the cinema, don’t worry. You have a chance to be frightened and create a Halloween mood at home with the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film.

The supernatural hit released earlier this year, racked up an impressive £30m at the box office and looks set to be a popular choice of film ready for the Halloween season.

In celebration of its release, a new exclusive deleted scene has landed and it’s a real eye-opener, leaving the possibility of seeing Karen Gillan in a sequel…

The scene which may have been set up to feature as a mid-credit or end-credit coda shows the evil Lasser Glass being restored by an unsuspecting workman who is admiring the mirror’s beauty. I think we can guess what is set to happen next!

If that isn’t enough to get our hearts pounding in excitement about the release, there is also an exclusive featurette, which explores how the spooky goings-on in the movie were brought to life.

OCULUS director Mike Flanagan talks about his inspiration for the spine chilling movie and interestingly how an old Jewish tradition was also used: ‘One of the things I find fascinating about [mirrors] is that every reflection that we encounter is distorted in its own thousands of little ways but we assume it’s reality.’

OCULUS tells the story of a brother and sister haunted by the deaths of their parents while they were children, leaving the lives of teenage siblings Tim and Kaylie forever changed when Tim was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents.

Now in his 20s, Tim is newly released from protective custody and only wants to move on with his life; but Kaylie, still haunted by that fateful night, is convinced her parents’ deaths were caused by something else altogether:  a malevolent supernatural force unleashed through the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror in their childhood home. Determined to prove Tim’s innocence, Kaylie tracks down the mirror, only to learn similar deaths have befallen previous owners over the past century.

With the mysterious entity now back in their hands, Tim and Kaylie soon find their hold on reality shattered by terrifying hallucinations, and realise, too late, that their childhood nightmare is beginning again…
