Will ‘This Means War’ be the only romantic comedy we will Tom Hardy in?

Tom Hardy

It seems we are not likely to see Tom Hardy in a rom-com anytime soon.

The 36-year-old actor stepped out of his normal comfort zone to star alongside Reese Witherspoon in a romantic comedy THIS MEANS WAR and it appears he has no intention of doing it again.

In the movie, Hardy played a CIA agent who discovered he was dating the same woman as his best friend – and this style and plot of film is completely different to what we are use to seeing him in.

Speaking to USA Today he revealed that he likes to do things that he has never done before but changing genre was not necessarily what he hoped it would be:

“I didn’t understand how you could do something which is so much fun and be so miserable doing it. I probably won’t do a romantic comedy again.”

These definitely don’t appear to be just words for the British actor, as since starring in THIS MEANS WAR, he has appeared in LAWLESS, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and LOCKE.  Up next, he has crime thriller THE DROP and TV series PEAKY BLINDERS later this year.

It seems the 36-year-old has no plans slowing down his work commitments after signing on to play the role of a Russian secret police officer in CHILD 44 and he has also been cast as Mad Max in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and both the Kray twins in LEGEND.

They’re definitely not roles that will provide a barrel of laughs, but as they say: ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’
