Up and coming videogame adaptation of The Last Of Us is finally getting some solid details confirmed with exciting news for fans…

Confirmed details for this project are few and far between and the last we heard, GAME OF THRONES star Maisie Williams had said it’s pretty much a go for her to play young Ellie in the film.

Now it seems the games director and writer of the film script, Neil Druckmann, has revealed a few more details in a recent interview with Game Informer

Druckmann revealed that the second draft of the script has been completed and that a table read with an anonymous “bunch of actors” has recently occurred.

He went on to talk about the importance of getting the right balance between faithfulness to the game, while ensuring the right creative freedom;

“(It’s) Pretty faithful to the game. There are some big changes, but the tone and what the story’s trying to say is pretty faithful to the game.”

We’re not sure how die-hard THE LAST OF US fans are going to feel about these ‘big changes’, considering the game brought in a ridiculous amount of emotional attachment to the narrative and its players involvement.

Still, with Druckmann behind the script, we’re sure he won’t take the movie too far away from the original game narrative. THE LAST OF US will tell the story of a post zombie-apocalyptic world where the lives of Ellie and Joel meet, changing their survival stories completely.

Druckmann also took the opportunity to reassure UNCHARTED fans that he’s hard at work with the fourth Nathan Drake game;

“When I’m in the office, it’s all Uncharted 4 all the time,” he said. “When I should be sleeping, it’s the Uncharted movie….Yeah, sorry, The Last of Us movie.”

Fans are well aware that there is an UNCHARTED movie in the pipework, with Seth Gordon ready to direct and a release date set for June 10th 2016.

Keep posted for more THE LAST OF US movie news as the details come in!
