Just another comic book universe.

Last year, Netflix acquired comic book writer Mark Millar’s imprint Millarworld, through which ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Kingsmen’ were published.

As well as bringing his existing work to the streaming platform, Millar launched a new crime fantasy comic ‘The Magic Circle’. Making it the first comic book to be published by Netflix.

Netflix has put multiple projects into development, with Millar’s comics being adapted into 2 original series and 3 films.

In a statement Millar said: “My wife Lucy and I are eleven months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten. To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent this high-end is just off the scale.”

Here are the comics that will be brought to life.

Jupiter’s Legacy

A multi-generational epic, that focuses on the conflict between a team of aging superheroes and their Millennial children, who struggle to live up to their parents legacy. Stephen S DeKnight will act as executive producer and showrunner for the series.

American Jesus

A 12 year old boy discovers he is Jesus Christ reincarnated, and struggles to come to terms with his destiny. The series is being developed by Everardo Gout and Leopoldo Gout.

Empress

Queen Emporia flees her homeworld alongside her children, travelling the galaxy to escape her tyrannical husband, King Morax. Lindsey Beer is attached to write the screenplay for the feature.

Huck

A petrol station clerk with special gifts performs a good deed a day for his neighbours, and in return they keep his secret. When a newcomer arrives and alerts the media, pieces of Huck’s past resurface. Ted Melfi is developing the film.

Sharky the Bounty Hunter

Unlike the other adaptations in the works, Sharky the Bounty Hunter is yet to be published. But Michael Bacall is already attached to write the film. Sharky will tell the story of a blue-collar bounty hunter chasing criminals across the galaxy in a rocket powered ice cream van, alongside his 10 year old partner.

Premiere dates are to be announced.
