Netflix has shared details on David Fincher and Tim Miller’s Love, Death & Robots

Strange worlds.

With the success of adult comedies like Bojack Horseman and Big Mouth, Netflix is keen to add more mature cartoons.

From directors David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) and Tim Miller (Deadpool) comes Love, Death & Robots. Fincher and Miller will executive produce, with Miller’s animation company Blur Studios producing the series.

Love, Death & Robots - Netflix

The first series of Love, Death & Robots will consist of 18 shorts, each 5 to 15 minutes long with a different animation style. Mixing fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and a good old look at the the human condition, the episodes will feature: werewolf soldiers, robots gone wild, and sentient dairy products.

Miller said in a statement:“Love, Death & Robots is my dream project. It combines my love of animation and amazing stories. Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so f—ing excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”

One thing’s for sure Love, Death & Robots will be big, bold, and bizarre. In years to come, we may even look back on it as one of the creative prophets of our age, in league with Asimov and The Simpsons, as we meet our doom at the hands (?) of angry milk cartons.

Love, Death& Robots will be Netflix’s first animated anthology series. A premiere date is to be announced.
