Netflix has released the first look image of The Crown‘s new Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Take a look at the photo of Tobias Menzies in character below.

In the image, we see Menzies, 44, in full, royal attire as he gazes into the distance wearing a regal tuxedo embellished with his medals of honour.

Tobias Menzies The Crown Season 3
Tobias Menzies has replaced Matt Smith as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

His face may look familiar for regular drama series viewers, as Menzies is known for his previous roles in OUTLANDER and GAME OF THRONES. His new role was announced back in  March that he would be replacing Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth’s husband in the series, which see him in action in season 3. Menzies will be playing a maturer Prince Philip who will be middle-aged when the new series is aired.

The photograph has also been teased on Netflix’s social media account, as the streaming giants took to Twitter to share the photograph with the caption, ‘Ambition’.
