“You don’t have to be crazy to work here. You just have to look like someone famous,” says Andy Harmer; David Beckham impersonator and owner of East Sussex talent agency, LOOKALIKES.
The structured reality, which aired on Monday evening on Channel 4, follows Harmer and his agency of 270 celebrity doppelgangers including the likes of David Brent, Captain Jack Sparrow, Ed Sheeran and Colin Farrell.
In the one-off episode we see how the impersonators are affected by the life of the real celebrity. Harmer’s brainchild in struggling; his celebrity lookalike variety act ‘Chippendoubles’ used to sell out, but with the same line-up for the last 4 years bookings are down. Calling an emergency meeting with his colleagues, Harmer suggests that he introduce some new guys – which doesn’t go down too well with ‘Will Smith’ and ‘Gordon Ramsay’ nor does his ‘celebrity lookalike sperm donors’ idea.
