Fans of James Dashner’s 2009 young adult fiction about a dystopian future, MAZE RUNNER, was a huge success opening with $32 million in September 2014 and making its way to $102m domestic and $340m worldwide.
With that succession it is no surprise that the second book, THE SCORCH TRIALS, is getting the big movie makeover starring many talented young actors such as Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Sangster, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario and many more.
Watching the trailer, I felt that it did not give a lot away. It opens with the group escaping the maze and being led into the world by men with guns. Aidan Gillian best known for his role in GAME OF THRONES as Littlefinger, is shown to be interrogating them in some way, trying to find out more information about WCKD as well as introducing them to many more young people who were also put in mazes.
As the trailer progresses Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) discovers that the games are not quite over and his group of friends have to once again fight their way out of the clutches of these people as they escape into a baron and deserted world outside.
THE SCORCH TRIALS premieres on September 15th, 2018.
