Matthew Modine has joined the cast of Johannes Roberts’ 47 METERS DOWNÂ in the role of Taylor – and sounds like it will be a film with a big bite…
Modine is now on location with the production at Pinewood’s Dominican Republic water tank and has already started filming his first scenes.
Modine is best known for his iconic roles in Stanley Kubrick‘s FULL METAL JACKET, BIRDYÂ and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. He joins Mandy Moore (TANGLED) who plays Kate, and Claire Holt (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) playing Lisa. So far production has taken place on location in London, England for 5 weeks before transferring to the Dominican Republic.
The film tells the story of fun-loving, twenty-something, sisters Kate and Lisa are ready for the holiday of a lifetime in Mexico. When the opportunity to go cage diving to view Great White sharks presents itself, thrill-seeking Kate jumps at the chance while Lisa takes some convincing. After some not so gentle persuading, Lisa finally agrees and the girls soon find themselves two hours off the coast of Huatulco and about to come face-to-face with nature’s fiercest predator.
But what should have been the trip to end all trips soon becomes a living nightmare when the cage breaks free from the boat and plummets to the ocean floor. Kate and Lisa find themselves trapped deep underwater with less than an hour of oxygen left in their tanks. They must somehow work out how to get back to the safety of the boat above through 47 meters of shark-infested waters.

47 METERS DOWNÂ is produced by James Harris and Mark Lane of The Tea Shop & Film Company. eOne have UK rights, whilst The Weinstein Company has acquired North American rights for release with Dimension Films. International sales are being handled by Altitude Film Sales.
