Matt Damon may currently be lighting up the big screen once again in JASON BOURNE, but right now, you can take a look at him in a very different role… Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for THE GREAT WALL, which you can look at in the video player above.
The upcoming movie has been directed by one of the most breathtaking visual stylists of our time, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers). THE GREAT WALL tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure. The first English-language production for Yimou is the largest film ever shot entirely in China.Â
The opening dialogue in the trailer is very cleverly cut as Damon announces “I was born (yes, he certainly is Jason Bourne) into battle…” The trailer doesn’t give too much of the plot away, but certainly looks to have the explosive thriller elements, which are in a very different style and role to what we are use to seeing Damon play. With the film not hitting the big screen until next year, there will be plenty of time to tease us with more glimpses from the movie in the future.
The Great Wall also stars Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau.Â
THE GREAT WALL will be released in UK cinemas February 24th 2017.
