Jessica Jones

It’s fair to say that Marvel’s DAREDEVIL, which premiered this year on Netflix, was a roaring success. Pleasing fans and critics alike with its dark and atmospheric tone, bone crunching hyper violence and outstanding performances from its central cast. We are all hoping that Marvel/Netflix’s follow up series JESSICA JONES will be able to recapture some of the elements that made DAREDEVIL so great.

Marvel have started to tease information surround the upcoming Netflix series, releasing this new logo, as well as discussing JESSICA JONES place within the Marvel cinematic/television universe.

During a show runner panel, Melissa Rosenberg talked about what to expect from the upcoming series of the hotly anticipated show.

“It all starts with Brian Michael Bendis’s Alias series,” Rosenberg said referencing to the original comic run that introduced Jessica Jones. “He created this incredibly flawed, damaged interesting character. Regardless of gender, it was the character that drew me. He wasn’t afraid to go there and we went even further. We’ve gone further in all of our storytelling.”

Adding to this, she confirms that the show will indeed be just as dark and gritty as DAREDEVIL.

“Well, is the audience going to respond to this or not? I don’t know, but if I’m afraid of it I’m doing the right thing.”

One thing Rosenberg did let slip was that a character from DAREDEVIL would be reappearing within JESSICA JONES.

“I think I’m allowed to say: Rosario Dawson will be dropping in.” Rosenberg also mentioned that “smaller characters that populated that world will be popping in.”
