With Marvels/Netflix’s critically acclaimed and much adored hit, DAREDEVIL, beginning filming on its second season, news is starting to trickle out about what the future may hold for Hell’s Kitchens top crime fighter and avenger.
With the news a couple of weeks ago that, THE WALKING DEAD’s, Jon Bernthal would be joining the cast as one of Marvel’s more sadistic and dark superhero’s The Punisher. News has broken as to who will play Daredevil’s on and off again girlfriend Elektra Natchios, the deadly Ninja Assassin.
Elodie Young will play the aforementioned super-heroine. Although not a household name, Elodie has an impressive back catalogue featuring in such roles in the French action parkour thriller ‘District 13: Ultimatum’ and 2013’s ‘G.I Joe: Retaliation’ in which she starred as Jinx.
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, had this to say about Elodie Young casting:
“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity, paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”
Those who are unaware of the character, Elektra, she is Matt Murdoch’s sometimes lover sometimes arch-enemy, who on numerous occasion has caused more problems for the man without fear than even his most physically dominating villains.
The character was created by Frank Miller in 1981 Daredevil No.168 and has been a vital character within the series ever since.
Jennifer Garner has previously played the character of Elektra in the 2003 film adaptation, which also starred Ben Affleck and Michael Clarke Duncan.
Season two of DAREDEVIL is due out sometime in 2016.
