Dracula Untold new poster

It was only a week ago when we were in Glasgow for the MCM Comic Con and members of the press and audience were treated to an exclusive clip from upcoming movie, Dracula Untold starring Luke Evans.  We gave you all of the information here.  Now you can see some of the clip for yourself as Universal have released it online along with a fantastic new poster.

DRACULA UNTOLD is a cinematic re-envisioning of the famous vampire’s origins – one that sees him as more of a dark superhero, complete with a tragic backstory (even before his transformation) than a bloodsucking demon. The film is tipped to be different to other Dracula style movies as the storyline is heavily informed by the actual history of Vlad Tepes, a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) who was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for his supernatural horror icon.

The story is set in the 15th century, as Vlad (Evans) finds his homeland facing the threat of invasion by the Ottoman Empire, led by the ruthless Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper).

Desperate to find a way to defend his people, Vlad ends up striking a Faustian bargain with an ancient evil (Charles Dance) that allows him to gain incredible powers that will help him win the war – but, eventually, at a terrible cost to his own soul.

In the exclusive clip, set in a dark, gloomy cave, the eponymous anti-hero, Vlad Tepes has decided to find the power he needs to fight and protect his family and people where he meets the sinister Charles Dance, who plays Caligula, the Roman emperor turned vampire, who makes the transformation.

Despite looking intimidated by Caligula’s presence, a desperate Vlad pleads to him to give him the strength to fight against the Ottoman Empire.  Caligula, the grey-faced, tall, imposing creature, with red-rimmed eyes is more than a match for Tepes.

If you thought Dance was intimidating as Tywin Lannister in GAME OF THRONES, you haven’t seen anything yet… In the exclusive clip, feeling no compassion for Vlad’s mission, he coldly and spine-chillingly slowly delivers the line, “Why spill blood if not for the pleasure of it?”

Evans, who is playing a leading role for the first time in a film is currently busy travelling around Europe promoting the film in Berlin and France.

Directed by Gary Shore and co-starring Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon and Samantha Barks, Dracula Untold will open in the UK on 3 October 2014 and in the US on October 10th.
