Lost in Florence review

Eric starts seeing Stefania (Alessandra Mastronardi) and… well… that’s it. There isn’t a whole lot to this story. Lost in Florence is a pleasant enough film with good performances, but it’s just not very exciting. The film goes along at a decent enough pace, although the plot itself is a little bit peculiar at certain points. Colleen’s (Emily Atack) reason for rejecting Eric’s proposal is really odd and doesn’t come across naturally.

Lost in Florence review

Lost in Florence works more as a sports film, Eric begins to play the local sport of Calcio and becomes a crucial part of the team. His previous experience in the NFL means he quickly becomes a natural at the unique sport. The final act focuses on Eric and the team trying to win the final of Florence’s Calcio tournament. This aspect is by far the most exciting part of Lost in Florence, but even then some of the montages go on for a bit too long.

As a love story, Lost in Florence doesn’t quite work. This aspect of the plot moves along quite clumsily and doesn’t offer much entertainment. Overall, this film is quickly forgettable, but it’s certainly not terrible. It is distinctly middle of the road, which can sometimes be worse.

Lost in Florence is available for digital download from 11th June.
