We’re all feeling a little numb as we come to the end of 2021 with one thing or another, but we are definitely coveting those wide open spaces and opportunities to socialise with those we love and care about. However, there’s still Christmas to get through – and for two lost souls feeling low-spirited at Yuletide, where better to try and remedy their issues than in the Scottish Highlands in the new rom-com LOST AT CHRISTMAS.

Rob (Kenny Boyle) is determined to make his long-standing fiancée his life-long bride, but when he is dumped by her at the last hurdle in the town where he plans it out, things are not exactly sprinkled with tinsel and the mistletoe is a little more prickly. Meanwhile, good-hearted romantic Jen (Natalie Clark) has arrived in same area to spend time with her long-term lover at his holiday home, only to find his secret wife and kid at home.

Stranded at the train station with a desire to get back as quickly as possible to Glasgow, the pair meet with not exactly the best of intentions, but Jen formulates a plan to return to the city by stealing her lover’s flashy car. Their journey through the snow-covered vistas doesn’t last long and they have to hike it with help from Rob’s present from his now-ex, a luxurious compass, where they chance upon a rural hotel-pub where they meet other lost souls, amongst them ageing friends Ernie (Sylvester McCoy, former DR. WHO amongst others) and Frank (Frazer Hines, vintage EMMERDALE).

Jen is determined to make amends, but the others aren’t quite so sure….

Erring on the right side of sentiment, LOST AT CHRISTMAS is the perfect emotional release for Christmas 2021, going exactly the right route in a blend of any number of previous classic and cult Christmas romantic love-ins. It’s slightly less sentimental than other much-loved favourites like LOVE ACTUALLY and THE HOLIDAY and the vastness of the Highland backdrop will certainly give people stimulus to get in their car and drive for a bit of open-air freshness once the UK Government decides that we can all meet up in the appropriate surroundings.

Boyle and Clark blend well together, as do McCoy and Hines who provide the right level of honesty and depth of two ageing buddies who simply want to make it to the next Christmas. Clare Grogan adds some balance as a disgruntled guest.

Grab a whisky and a wee dram and enjoy the festivities here. I am sure time will tell where this fits with other classic Christmas fayre, but it is right for this holiday season.

Lost At Christmas will be in UK Cinemas from 4th December and on Digital Download from 7th December pre order here
