Focus Features has unveiled the first trailer for A MONSTER CALLS, which you can watch in the player above.
A MONSTER CALLS is based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Patrick Ness and is a visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (THE IMPOSSIBLE), based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel.
The film tells the story of 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) who attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.
The plot of the film in a way, is very reminiscent of Roald Dahl’s THE BFG or Studio Ghibli’s MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO, which will no doubt please fans who enjoyed those.
A MONSTER CALLS also features Liam Neeson who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title, and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.
A MONSTER CALLS is in cinemas October 2016.
