Lethal Weapon

The trend for turning films into small screen shows looks set to continue, with the latest offering coming in the form of LETHAL WEAPON.  Fox network has decided to turn it into a TV show.

With films like RUSH HOUR, UNCLE BUCK, TRAINING DAY and MINORITY REPORT already been given the small screen treatment, it was only a matter of time until LETHAL WEAPON joined that list.

The first Lethal Weapon film, which came out in 1987, starred Danny Glover as a veteran police officer and Mel Gibson as his volatile new partner who always seemed to land them in some tricky situations.

The film became a blockbuster smash and due to its success, there ended up being three more films added to the franchise over the subsequent 11 years.

According to reports, Fox has signed up to make a “put pilot” of LETHAL WEAPON – the industry term for a pilot episode that is seen as being virtually guaranteed to become a full series.

The storyline will largely remain unchanged, however, fans of the franchise, don’t become nostalgic; Gibson and Glover will not be reprising their roles for the TV series.

The show will be written by Matt Miller, whose previous credits include Forever and Chuck.
