Animator Paul Hollingsworth explores the virtues of childhood fantasy and aspiration in his short animation film WEIRDOS, which recently played as part of the 2023 Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Misfit school mates Jasmine and Owen encounter some STRANGER THINGSĀ as they head on their quest using anything and everything related to any old iron, but their nemesis awaits when they go down to the woods….
Ā
Hollingsworth taps into the classic realm of Tim Burton’s NIGHTMARE and BEETLEJUICE, coupled with classic 80s tropes in an entertaining short-form yarn that dazzles with Aardman influence.
WEIRDOS won the Short Film (Audience Award) at the Los Angeles International Film Festival 2023.
About the film:
Ā
Missing children, mysterious footprints, and strange sounds, all point to one thing: proof positive that monsters thrive in the forests of New Orleans! Humanityā€™s second-best chance – Middle school misfits Jasmine and Owen, who are on a quest to become the most popular monster hunters ever! If their fantastic science fair failures, social media antics, or frenemies donā€™t stop them, the wonderfully weird beasts of the night will!
