What’s a girl to do when she is the desperate and ill-fitting sidekick to a group of crime-fighters? Well, spare a thought for little old Kelly, the roller-blading innocent at the heart of the Kristen Gish‘s new animated short KELLY AND THE KUNG FU GATORS.
Somewhere there is a crime being committed, but never fear, the Kung Fu Gators will save the day. Their nemesis is Johann Sebastian Bad Guy and he is keen to get hold of the loot – er, I mean lute. However in the nick of time, the Gators arrive to rap and wreak havoc against him and his sidekicks. However, Kelly has other ideas…
Main creative force Gish has crafted an entertaining mix of something that plays at times as even more fun than some recent mega-budget comic-book yarns, like a cross between John Carpenter’s BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, CLUELESS and FAMILY GUY.
Animation style is not dissimilar to the classic visual pallet of Bob Godfrey, who created the likes of HENRY’S CAT, ROOBARB and the adult cult classic DREAM DOLL.
