Fans of Matthew Vaughn’s hyperactive and violet graphic novel adaptation KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE it’s time to celebrate – 20th Century Fox have confirmed that a sequel is indeed in the works.

Rumours of a KINGSMAN sequel have been circling the project since its release earlier this year. With director Vaughn stating that the sequels possibility will “all depend on how well the film did commercially in America”.

In terms of recurring crew and cast members; Vaughn and Taron Egerton are currently shooting THE EDDIE THE EAGLE STORY for Fox, due to be released early 2016. Vaughn has also been tied to re-launch a new version of FLASH GORDON as well as adapting another comic book THE GOLDEN AGE. But Vaughn’s admiration and passion for the KINGSMAN WORLD is well-known and it is likely that he will return to direct. It’s safe to assume that Egerton will be returning as the young offender turned spy Eggsy, who will serve as the main protagonist of the film having finally completed his spy training at the end of KINGSMAN. Mark Strong as the technical wizard Merlin is also expected to return to the franchise.

Colin Firth Kingsmen

But what about Colin Firth? For those who have seen KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE understand that have Firth return to the role of Harry Hart might be slightly problematic. When asked if Firth would be returning to the role, Vaughn stated “A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I’m coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I’ve got a feeling we’ll figure out a way for having Colin back.”

KINGSMAN was a somewhat surprise hit of the year earning just over £400 million worldwide since its release in February this year.
