You can now club away rumours from any naysayers that the ‘US phenomenon’ that aired on E4 in the UK EMPIRE  was axed as news starts to heat up.

As things begin to pick up with guest stars such as Lenny Kravitz, Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Oprah being among the big names to have some roles to the show among them is Kelly Rowland, who has a recurring role on the show created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.

The US drama made for FOX centered on a hip-hop mogul, Luscious Lyon, (Terrence Howard), his three gifted sons who aim to take the chair as CEO of Empire Entertainment after their father is diagnosed with a degenerative illness. Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) also wants a piece.

Rowland will be playing Luscious’ mother during flashbacks in season 2 set to air on 23rd September in the US.

Joining the recording artist and actress is Oscar-winning star Marisa Tomei, who will have a recurring role as Mimi Whiteman, a venture capitalist who gets in the mix of family drama and affairs of the Lyon musical empire. With Luscious away, how will they face this new thorn in their realm?
