Joseph-Gordon Levitt has exited SANDMAN…

It has only recently been announced that a new writer had been hired to script the big-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s SANDMAN, which had Joseph Gordon-Levitt sitting in the director’s chair for the project with a possible starring role too, however, Gordon-Levitt has announced that he will be exiting the project.

The actor to social media to confirm his departure and below, is the full statement he added on Facebook:

So he has left the adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s beloved comic series SANDMAN, citing creative difference with the studio, but the good news is the actor has also set up another project that he’s producing and may also star in at Amazon, so it’s not all bad news.

SANDMAN, which launched DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman’s worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic anthology, focusing on the allegorical character of Dream and his brothers and sisters, known as the Endless (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny).

Will there be a replacement for the project? Possibly. Either way, we will keep you updated with the latest news as it unfolds.
