86th Oscars Nominees Luncheon - Arrivals

Jonah Hill and Miles Teller are set to team up for Todd Phillips’ ARMS AND THE DUDES.

The comedy, which sees two stoners turn their hands to arms dealing, was originally set to star Jesse Eisenberg. However, he exited due to filming commitments for 2016 blockbuster BATMAN V SUPERMAN, in which he plays Lex Luthor. He is also expected to reprise this role in follow-up film SUICIDE SQUAD. Shia LaBeouf was also in talks to star, but was never formally attached to the project.

Phillips will produce the film, along with THE HANGOVER star Bradley Cooper and Mark Gordon. The plot is based on an article in Rolling Stone, given to Phillips by Gordon. It follows the story of two Miami Beach stoners who win a $300 million contract to provide arms to American allies in Afghanistan. Their lack of experience sees them become completely out of their depth and soon they’re in danger at home and abroad.

This is the latest in a long line of projects for Hill, who received an Oscar nomination for his performance in WOLF OF WALL STREET. He is also set to star in the Coen Brothers’ film HAIL CAESAR and he’s attached to THE BALLAD OF RICHARD JEWELL.

Teller’s most recent outing was starring opposite Zac Efron in THAT AWKWARD MOMENT. He is also slated to appear in the new Fantastic Four movies as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic.

Production on Arms and the Dudes is expected to begin in spring 2015.
