With Tom Hardy out and Jake Gyllenhaal passing on the job, Joel Edgerton is the next leading man to be in talks for SUICIDE SQUAD role.
Immediately after THE DROP star Tom Hardy bailed on the role of anti-hero Rick Flag in DC Movie, SUICIDE SQUAD, Jake Gyllenhaal was thrown into talks of replacing him.
When news broke this week that Gyllenhaal had passed on the big role, the rumour mill was hard at work, throwing new A-list names into the mix.
According to both Latino Review and  Cinema Blend, EXODUS star Joel Edgerton is next in line for talks of the role as well as The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal.Â
The reports also suggest that MISSION TO MARS star Gary Sinise and MAGIC MIKE actor Joe Manganiello are in talks for some kinds of role within the film.Â
While neither Edgerton or Bernthal have the household name recognition that Hardy or Gyllenhaal had, they seem like good enough options to us! With Edgerton finding success in WARRIOR and THE GREAT GATSBY and Bernthal recently appearing in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET and FURY, a role like this could send either of them into Hollywood’s mainstream.Â
