Jennifer Aniston gives an almost unrecognisable performance in the new CAKE trailer.

Daniel Barnz new drama, CAKE, starring Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick and Sam Worthington has already gained a substantial awards buzz after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Aniston takes on a dramatic role as Claire Simmons, a woman who, dealing with the after effects of a horrendous accident, becomes fascinated by the suicide of a member (Kendrick) of her chronic pain group. Claire begins a strange relationship with the deceased’s widower (Worthington) while having strange hallucinations of his late wife.

Could this be an Oscar worthy performance from Aniston? It’s definitely different from her other comedic roles in recent films like WE ARE THE MILLERS and HORRIBLE BOSSES. However, her Cake performance does remind us of her 2002 film THE GOOD GIRL, where she stole the show as depressed, downtrodden store clerk.

Co-starring Felicity Huffman, Chris Messina, Britt Robertson, William H. Macy and Mamie Gummer; CAKE hits theaters in a limited released in December with expansion in January.
