Jason Clarke

EVEREST actor Jason Clarke has confirmed that he will not be reprising his role in WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, the third film in the PLANET OF THE APES prequel saga.

The Aussie actor played ape sympathiser Malcolm and revealed to Yahoo Movies UK during his press junket for EVEREST that he will not be back for the third APES film.

He said that the film’s plot had been discussed “a little bit” but that he wasn’t at liberty to divulge any further info.

It’s not completely unexpected that Clarke will not be back on board the new project in WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES as it is believed to be set about ten years after the events of ‘Dawn’ and the 2014 sequel to RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES had a completely new human cast, so it’s no surprise that director Matt Reeves will do the same for WAR also.

Andy Serkis will likely return as Caesar as Matt Reeves told Collider the next film would see the lead primate “becoming the seminal figure for ape history.  [It’s] like myth ascension, him becoming the ape Moses.”

Jason Clarke can next be seen on the big screen in the new disaster movie EVEREST, which storms into cinemas September 18th.

WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is scheduled for release in 2017.
