Yellow Birds

There has been a casting change around with the Iraq war drama YELLOW BIRDS: Jack Huston is on board replacing Benedict Cumberbatch and Jennifer Aniston will also star in the movie.

The project was first unveiled in May at the Cannes Film Festival this year and at that time, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tye Sheridan and Will Poulter were starring with David Lowery directing from his own script.

The movie tells they story of two young soldiers — portrayed by Sheridan and Alden Ehrenreich — who are taken under the wing of an older sergeant, played by Huston, as they are deployed to Iraq. Aniston, will take on the role of the mother of Ehrenreich’s character.

It is Alexandre Moors who will be in the directors chair for this one, replacing Lowery as the director. The project is financed by Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton’s Cinelou Films in a partnership with Story Mining and Supply Co.

“The Yellow Birds” was published in 2012 and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Powers served as a machine gunner with the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.

Huston can next be seen in the upcoming movie BEN-HUR, which hits cinemas February 2016.
