The wait is finally over. The first trailer has landed for Duncan Jones’ WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING and it certainly does not disappoint.

For those familiar with the well known game, Jones’ WARCRAFT looks to focus more on some of the earlier parts of the games’ lore where it was mostly just humans vs. orcs (as you can tell by the title too!).

For those who have never played the game before or are unfamiliar with its plot, it does not matter, as it’s clear by the trailer alone that the story is easy to follow.

In WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING, we see that the orcs are fleeing their dying world through a portal to the human world of Azeroth.

The peaceful world stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another.  As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something. The trailer alone delivers spectacularly and in order to take in just how good this film could be, it is definitely one to watch on repeat – and then repeat again!

WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING stars Travis Fimmel, who is largely known for his sword-wielding, battling character in the brilliant TV series VIKINGS. It looks as though the Australian actor has slipped into the shoes of Anduin Lothar with ease and is once again prepared for battle and to fight to the death if need be.

Joining Fimmel on the big screen adaptation of WARCRAFT is Rob Kazinsky, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell (DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES), Dominic Cooper, and Ben Foster.

If the film does well at the global box office, it may turn into a successful trilogy like the long-running game franchise has been.

However, for many fans, this is the first time they have seen any footage (unless they were in San Diego where they were treated to an extended preview at Comic-Con) and it will no doubt start to generate a lot of excitement after watching the trailer above.

WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING will release in UK cinemas 3rd June, 2016.
