Freddie Mercury biopic

It seems that Sacha Baron Cohen has had a change of heart and is once more involved with the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic with quite extensive control…

The actor and comedian, who reportedly left the project after suggestions of falling out with the remaining members of Queen, is now heavily involved with the movie and is set to help to write, produce and direct the movie – and of course he will also be taking on the lead role as the iconic singer, Freddie Mercury.

According to Music Week the band’s manager of 40 years, Jim Beach, announced Baron Cohen’s re-appointment at the Artist and Manager Awards 2015 on March 26th.

Rumours are also aplenty as to who else could have taken on the role with Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor suggesting SKYFALL actor Ben Whishaw could also be a good candidate.

Sacha Baron Cohen will next be on the big screen in the Louis Leterrier-directed spy spoof GRIMSBY, released July 31st.

Over the coming months, we will probably hear more about the progress of the Freddie Mercury biopic and will find out who else has been cast in the movie. Who would you like to see cast in the leading roles? Share your thoughts below:
