Film And TV Now were delighted to speak with a legend of independent cinema and the head of the longest running indie company in film-making today. Lloyd Kaufman.

If the name ‘Lloyd Kaufman’ is not a familiar one to you, the chances are that some of the people who have emerged through his Troma Entertainment brand will be.

The likes of Trey Parker (SOUTH PARK), Kevin Costner, James Gunn (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro have all had some connection with Kaufman and his production team over the years and Kaufman also has worked on classic films like ROCKY (1976) and SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (1977) as a Location Manager alongside producing cult classics like THE TOXIC AVENGER and TROMEO AND JULIET – a unique take on a certain Shakespearian legend (and one of the best adaptations in my view!!!)

Based in New York, Kaufman continues to pave the way for truly independent talents and through his own book MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN MOVIE!, he provides much valuable insights into what it takes to get your own unique, independent projects off the ground.

In the Zoom interview, Kaufman reflects on the state of independent cinema, the revival of the American drive-in sector and the streaming platform, Troma Now.

There is much to take in and Kaufman is as knowledgeable about what it takes to make a film and maintains a level-headedness and perspective that remains truly admirable, as well as reminding everyone that it is the fans and the dedicated viewers across the world that buy into the Troma legacy, which includes 1000 films, tv series and shorts, which can be viewed with a subscription via the Troma Now streaming service.
