Idris Elba

It was only last week that the official cast and title announcements were made for the 24th James Bond film, SPECTRE, but already attention is already turning as to who will replace James Bond and become the next 007.

For a long time now, Idris Elba has been hotly tipped to bare the pout and point the gun as the next British secret agent and it is no surprise to see the odds on this being slashed.

The likelihood of Elba taking on the role is 3/1 and those odds will not surprise many after such an ardent campaign by his fans to see him in the Aston Martin and help to save the world.

Idris Elba’s film and TV career has gone from strength to strength, with the TV show LUTHER helping to catapult his career and we can certainly imagine him putting his detective skills and expertise to good use in the Bond franchise.

Other notable names thrown into the mix are Tom Hardy, Orlando Bloom, Tom Hiddleston, Daniel Day-Lewis, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.

All of the above are popular and talented actors who have also enjoyed considerable success in film and certainly have the swagger and grit to take on the role. Despite the current speculation, we can imagine that the casting choice will definitely continue to grow and change – assuming that Daniel Craig chooses not to reprise his role of course!

Who do you think would make a great James Bond? Would you prefer a lesser-known actor to take on the infamous role? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below:
