Hugh Jackman Wolverine

It was back in March that we first reported that Hugh Jackman may be hanging up his claws after WOLVERINE 3 and now it has been confirmed.

WOLVERINE 3, which is due out in 2017, will be his last appearance as the clawed mutant after playing the titular character in seven movies. It was thanks to his performance in the original X-MEN trilogy that led to his mainstream stardom, and since then the actor has enjoyed carrying his own solo spinoff series and appearing in the period-piece prequel series.

However, the time has now come to wave goodbye to Wolverine after 2017 and he has confirmed he will no longer reprise the role.

This will be my last one,” Jackman tells Dr. Oz, “It is my last time,” Jackman reiterates. “It felt like it was the right time to do it. Seventeen years, I never thought in a million years it would last this long.

Despite revealing his ambitions to step away from his role, the one thing the Australian did not reveal is the plot to the third instalment of the film. What we do know is that Jackman will be working once more with director James Mangold and screenwriter Michael Green is working on the screenplay.

It will be a shame to see him no more in that role, but we are looking forward to what other roles Jackman will choose next.

Here is the trailer for WOLVERINE below (somebody pass us those tissues…)
