Hugh Jackman

WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman is in talks to take on the lead in an retelling of the Greek poem from the director of THE HUNGER GAMES sequels.

So it seems Hugh Jackman is looking to add another film credit to his already impressive CV over the next coming months and it is rumoured that he is in early discussions to take on the lead role in an upcoming version of Homer’s THE ODYSSEY.

According to The Wrap, the Oscar-nominated star of LES MISERABLES would play the part of Odysseus, who undertakes an epic, decade-long journey home to his family after the fall of Troy.

It will be Francis Lawrence sitting in the director’s chair for this one, who broke out with CONSTANTINE and has since been behind WATER FOR ELEPHANTS and the final three HUNGER GAMES films. It reunites him with Lionsgate, the studio in charge of the dystopian adventure franchise.

Back in May, it was revealed that the story might be split into two films with plans to start shooting as early as next year, based on the script by MOCKINGJAY screenwriter Peter Craig.

It will be a very different undertaking for the Australian actor who recently announced that his next outing as Wolverine will be his last before he hangs up the claws.

It won’t be long until we see Jackman back on the big screen, as this Christmas he has channeled his inner dark side with a role as Captain Hook in Joe Wright’s PAN. This is ahead of his forthcoming films including sports biopic EDDIE THE EAGLE and high-profile Christian film APOSTLE PAUL.
