It seems that the plans for a JUMANJI remake are in full swing as Deadline reports that the project has brought aboard new talent to push the feature to its previously announced Christmas Day 2016 release.

The man who will be bringing the remake to the big screen is Scott Rosenberg. He wrote the scripts for CON AIR and GONE IN 60 SECONDS, and is now in line to write the screenplay of the 1995 hit that starred Robin Williams.

It is also being reported that Jeff Pinkner, one of the scribes hailing from JJ Abrams’ TV shows ALIAS, LOST and FRINGE, has been brought on board to consult on the project.

The original movie is an adaptation of the book by Chris Van Allsburg and told the story of two kids who let loose a man trapped decades in a board game. Unfortunately, they also unleash a jungle’s worth of creatures into the world.

JUMANJI is being slated for a December 25th, 2016 release.
