Oscar nominations

We may have only just finished watching all of the action from the Golden Globes on Sunday evening, but now attention is already turning to next month’s Oscars after the names of the individuals who will be announcing the nominations has been revealed…

The 88th Academy Awards are drawing ever closer and finally we know who will be announcing the nominees: Guillermo Del Toro and John Krasinski, along with Ang Lee and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs.

The 24 Oscar categories will be equally split amongst the aforementioned group as outlined below:

Directors Del Toro, an Oscar nominee, and Lee, an Oscar winner, will announce the nominees for Animated Feature Film, Cinematography, Costume Design, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Song, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing

Krasinski and Isaacs will unveil the nominees for categories like Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Directing, Film Editing, Foreign Language Film, Original Score, Best Picture, Production Design, Visual Effects, Adapted Screenplay and Original Screenplay.

The Oscar nominees will be revealed at a news conference on January 14th, which will take place at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills.  

We don’t have too long to wait until the ceremony kicks off and the many well-known faces hit the red carpet, as the Oscars will air on Sunday, February 28th, with Chris Rock acting as host.
