There’s some good news for movie fans desperate to get back in the cinemas as AMC, the company that owns Odeon Cinemas in the UK, is hoping to re-open all cinemas in the UK and US in July.

This would be a huge boost to AMC’s after their latest earnings report has revealed that the company has lost $2.2 billion in profits in the first quarter of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected countries globally and as a result, all cinemas have been forced to close.

It has also been confirmed that the reopening of the cinemas will tie in in time for the  release of Christopher Nolan’s TENET and Disney’s rescheduled release of the live-action MULAN. However, no confirmation has been issued yet that by both Warner Bros. and Disney about the release does for the movies.

“In our two largest territories, we are currently planning to reopen almost all of our US and UK theatres in July, to be positioned to showcase Warner Bros’ release of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet now slated for release on July 17th followed by Disney’s Mulan now slated for release on July 24th.”

As in coordination with government guidelines, there will be strict social-distancing policy in place for the health and safety of audiences that will need to be adhered to. AMC will be introducing limited capacity and ‘blocked seating’.

With regards to films from Universal, they have confirmed that they will move to open titles on premium VOD and in cinemas concurrently, AMC has stated that talks are underway with the studio on coming to an agreement.

While we are in active dialogue with Universal, no movies made by Universal Studios are currently on our docket.”

For fans who are desperately waiting for the release of A QUIET PLACE 2, WONDER WOMAN 1984 and BLACK WIDOW, for now, they are still scheduled for release later this year.
