The nominations have been revealed for the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards by presenters Leslie Mann, Christian Slater, Terry Crews and Danai Gurira.
It comes as no surprise to see A Star Is Born in contention for some top accolades at the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards with Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut scooping five nominations.Â
The musical drama, which proved to be a box office smash and adored by many, is nominated in the following categories: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Actor for Bradley Cooper‘s role as singer Jackson Maine, Best Actress for Lady Gaga and Best Original Song for ‘Shallow‘.
The film has tough competition as THE FAVOURITE and GREEN BOOK have also come up trumps with five nominations. However, VICE has topped the list of nods with a super six nominations.
Each category has got tough competition and many have tipped Lady Gaga to snag the Best Actress crown. She faces a tough contest and she is up against some extraordinary talent including Glenn Close, Melissa McCarthy, Rosamund Pike and Nicole Kidman.
The Best Actor category is also oozing with significant talent as joining Bradley Cooper in the category is Willem Dafoe, Lucas Hedges, Rami Malek and John David Washington.
The Brits have also fared well with nominations: Claire Foy has earned a nod for her role in the story of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing in FIRST MAN, Benedict Cumberbatch is up for nomination for his role in Patrick Melrose, Richard Madden for Bodyguard.
Rosamund Pike has a nod for A Private War and Olivia Colman (who has just won a BIFA award for her role) has been nominated for The Favourite. Emily Blunt is up for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for Mary Poppins Returns and Rachel Weisz for Best Supporting Actress for The Favourite.
On the TV side, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story leads with a total of four Golden Globes nominations. You can take a look at the full list of nominations below.
