ghostbusters

Who you gonna call…again?

Sony Studios plans to expand the Ghostbusters franchise with a male-led action-comedy, alongside Paul Feig’s 2016 all-female reboot.

To launch the male-led movie and control the Ghostbusters franchise the studio is forming Ghostcorps, a new production company which will be headed by the original movie’s architects Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd.

Paul Feig’s movie will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon as a new quartet of paranormal investigator/rescuers with no ties to the original group.

Reitman plans for the Russo Brothers (who have just signed a new deal with Sony) to direct and produce, Drew Pearce to write, and Channing Tatum to star in and produce the male-led movie.

At this time these selections cannot be confirmed as the Russo’s are still to begin filming Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and are widely speculated to be in the frame to direct the two-part AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

Talking to Deadline, Reitman said: “My primary focus will be to build the Ghostbusters into the universe it always promised it might become. The original film is beloved, as is the cast, and we hope to create films we will continue to love.”

It is unrevealed as to whether the male and female Ghostbusters will have the same emergency number, or respond to the same calls. If in doubt just play the original soundtrack and one of the team’s is sure to arrive to solve your supernatural issues.
