The first official teaser trailer from the Sky, HBO and Canal+ original limited series, The New Pope, has been revealed, featuring Jude Law and John Malkovich. Check out the footage in the video player below: 

The New Pope, written by Paolo Sorrentino with Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises, marks Sorrentino’s second limited series set in the world of the modern papacy.

All nine episodes are directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The cast features two-time Academy Award® nominees Jude Law and John Malkovich.  Returning cast from The Young Pope include Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier and Maurizio Lombardi.

The New Pope is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Wildside, which is part of the Fremantle family of producers, and co-produced by Haut et Court TV and The Mediapro Studio.  Fremantle is the global distributor for The New Pope.

The New Pope is coming soon on Sky in Italy, the UK and Germany, it is part of Sky’s increased investment in original production through the recently launched Sky Studios, a new Europe-wide development and production capability.

The New Pope is the latest of Fremantle’s high-end series. The producer’s global family of scripted producers have created several prime-time hit dramas such as My Brilliant Friend from Wildside in Italy, American Gods from Fremantle North America, Picnic at Hanging Rock from Fremantle Australia, The Rain from Miso and Deutschland86 from UFA in Germany.
