Assassin's Creed

Oooh, we finally get a first look at Michael Fassbender in ASSASSIN’S CREED, thanks to the lovely people at 20th Century Fox and New Regency (Via Yahoo!) who have released the first full image of the actor in his role.

After PIXELS and HITMAN: 47 have made the leap from video game to movie, it is the ridiculously popular video game series ASSASSIN’S CREED that will next have its moment on the big screen. Fassbender (X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) has taken on the role of Callum Lynch, a brand new character in the ASSASSIN’S CREED universe.

The film is not a retelling of any of the existing ‘Assassin’s Creed’ games and instead introduces new characters and a new historic time period – 15th century Spain – that are previously unexplored by the franchise, while still existing within the same world. Fassbender has quite the personal interest in this project, as he’s also co-producing the film through his own company.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film: ‘Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.’

ASSASSIN’S CREED will be directed by Justin Kurzel and it’s not the first time Marion Cotillard and Fassbender have worked together, as the duo have completed work on MACBETH where Cotillard plays Lady Macbeth and Fassbender is her doomed husband.

Production is set to begin on ASSASSIN’S CREED on Friday with photography taking place in Matla, London, and Spain.

ASSASSIN’S CREED OPENS in cinemas worldwide on December 21st, 2016.
