DELIVER US is a documentary about the growing number of exorcisms in Europe. Focusing on a Catholic church in the Italian province of Palermo, we follow one priest and a select number of people who frequently see him for exorcisms.

Despite covering an interesting subject, Deliver Us doesn’t deliver an informative documentary. At points the film feels borderline exploitative, following people from various different backgrounds. As a ‘fly on the wall’ style of documentary, you don’t really learn anything. You get a glimpse into the lives of some people and briefly gain an understanding of why they regularly see a priest, but that’s about it. The whole film feels like a strange excuse to show some people being exorcised.

The film offers up some interesting facts about how the number of exorcisms across Europe is rising, but that’s about it. It doesn’t offer any possible reasons why, or even go into detail about these increasing statistics.

Overall, Deliver Us is a wholly pointless documentary, simply there for you to have a look at some vulnerable members of society and their families with no proper exploration of the topic.
