Fabulous news for those who were addicted to the drug filled, foul-mouthed Danny Boyle movie, TRAINSPOTTING; a sequel may just be on the cards!
Based on Irvine Welsh’s novel, Ewan McGregor played lovable smack-head, Renton, in the 1996 movie about drug addiction in Edinburgh. Ever since then, fans have been desperate for a sequel but McGregor had also denied having any involvement.
However, speaking to Details, McGregor commented on the likelihood of getting back into Renton’s deranged character; “It looks like it might happen. The idea is that we shoot it in 2016, which would be 20 years after the original came out. And I’d be up for it. I wouldn’t have been 10 years ago, but I am now”.
Hallelujah! I am SO up for this sequel and I’m betting loads of you are too!Â
Irvine Welsh actually went on to write a sequel to Trainspotting, Porno, but it’s unknown whether they’ll stick to that narrative or perhaps create something completely new.
Danny Boyle absolutely blew audiences away with Trainspotting and despite rolling out some absolute smash hits (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, 127 HOURS), he’s never quite reached the heights of Trainspotting since. Perhaps, now is the time.Â
