Christmas was huge in Walford, but that was just for starters as 2015 is shaping up to be rather epic.

Over the past few years the EastEnders Christmas episodes haven’t exactly been jumping out at viewers with extreme excitement or entertainment- well not since 2007 when Max and Stacey’s affair was revealed in front of the whole Branning clan!

However this year, the EastEnders Christmas episode exceeded expectation and the entertainment and drama had the viewers and characters itching for more.

The main focus on Christmas day was the shock revelation about Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) being sexually assaulted by Dean Wickes (Matt Di Angelo), her husband Mick Carters nephew. However as keen EastEnders viewers will know Dean is in fact Mick’s (Danny Dyer) biological brother.

The episode saw the emotional drama unfold as a fragile Linda refused to legally marry her husband as she was secretly suffering in silence after the assault.  As Mick found out tempers soared and viewers waited in anticipation as Mick and Dean came to blows in the middle of Christmas Dinner.

Distraught mother Shirley Carter watched in horror as her sons tore into one another, with Linda Henry delivering a moving performance of a mother harbouring a terrible secret that could only come to light when overwhelmed by emotion.

Despite the revelation Christmas day only got worse in Albert Square, with Mick naturally still despising his brother for his actions, aswell as being left heartbroken at the prospect that Linda’s unborn child may not be his.  As the famous pub, simply known as ‘The Vic’, took a hammering from Mick, the Carters Christmas horror was a delight for BBC viewers.

As the drama continues in Albert Square, the fallout from Christmas day will no doubt create a memorable New Year’s episode, with more information about the murder of Lucy Beale teasing fans and building anticipation.
