Man, I loved the ’80s. It was the age of ET, Mr T and MTV. Back then, the world was still small. No cell phones or Internet or Twitter. Your friends lived on your street, and your family were the people at your dinner table.”

Feeling nostalgic? If you’re an ’80s kid who wants to take a trip down memory lane – or you’re just someone who, like me, is convinced that they were born in the wrong decade – then THE GOLDBERGS is the new show for you!

Starring BRIDESMAIDS Wendi McLendon-Covey as “overbearing “smother”” Beverly, the semi-biographical sitcom is based on creator Adam Goldberg’s family during 1980s suburbia. The comedy follows young Adam as he documents his childhood and eccentric relatives through the lense of a video camera, including harsh speaking dad Murray, sister Erica, “textbook middle child and classic over reactor” Barry and an awesome 80 year old grandfather.

Originally premiering in the USA in 2013, THE GOLDBERGS has proved its popularity with an average of 7 million viewers.

Still not won over? Here is what McLendon-Covey had to say in an interview with Digital Spy: “Well, if you like to laugh, you’re going to watch our show. If you like to not laugh, watch something else! Our show is a good show for families where the parents thoroughly enjoy it and laugh and so do the kids. Nothing is dumbed down for anybody but you’re going to laugh and you’re going to get a lump in your throat in almost every episode. But there will be times when you’re laughing convulsively and you’re going to say, ‘Oh wait, I’m not the only one who felt awkward as a teenager!’ Or, ‘I’m not the only parent who feels like they’re doing it wrong! It’s okay that I love my children in a weird way!”

THE GOLDBERGS is on E4 every weekday at 7.30pm.
