Young super-star’s Logan Lerman and Dylan O’Brien rumoured to be up for role as new Spider-Man in the Sony/Marvel merge…

With Andrew Garfield out of a job as Spider-Man after a stint in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN  and it’s sequel, Sony and Marvel are looking for a new star to take over, as the two production companies have merged to bring Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With Sony still looking to work with a younger, high school version of Spider-Man, it looks as though a few names have already been thrown into the mix as, according to Variety, both Logan Lerman and Dylan O’Brien have been rumored to be considered for the role.

While Variety’s source mentioned that the actors were yet to be contacted, it did say that the young actors were in consideration while Sony looks for a new director. It also mentioned that the studios are in talks as to whether they’ll continue using the Peter Parker character or go with somebody new, like Miles Morales.

Looking at the actors, both boys are well known heart-throbs who are more than capable of taking on a role like this. Logan Lerman has stared in recent movies like FURY, PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS and THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, which showcased his outstanding ability to give a truly emotive performance, tackling some seriously challenging issues.

O’Brien’s career is equally impressive with recent success in his role in THE MAZE RUNNER and his recent run in television series TEEN WOLF. While his career has been shorter than Lerman’s, his quickly made his mark as a leading man with THE MAZE RUNNER franchise kicking off with a huge fan following.

Whoever they go for, Sony are going to have to act fast as the new Spider-Man will make his debut in CAPTAIN MARVEL: CIVIL WAR which is being released May 6th 2016.

Who would you like to see as the new Spider-Man? The solo flick is set to hit theatres July 28th 2017.
