It’s no secret that Drake is a fan of TOP BOY, the Channel 4 drama following the lives of inner-city gangs and its residents in East London and now the Canadian rapper has offered to fund the third series of the show after the channel decided to pull the plug on it.

TOP BOY star and former So Solid member Ashley Walters also known as Asher D has confirmed the rumours to be true.

After a recent interview on NFTR Walters was quoted as saying “He thought [Top Boy] was proper. This was via text. I was speaking to Future mainly, Drake’s manager.

We were going back and forth. And we were like, “Put a deal on the table.

Walters went onto to say: ‘Eventually they got in contact and asked, “What’s happening with series three?” I told them Channel 4 had cancelled it. They said, “That’s sad, but we’re going to do something about it.” Furthermore, Drake was like “You need to break America.” He wanted to help.”

The 33-year-old South Londoner also stated that there were meetings. Walters mentioned the brand would easily sell on Netflix and Amazon. It turned out that Cowboy Films, the production company behind TOP BOY owned the rights to the show. Drake had made an offer that they refused.

“I don’t know what is going on with it – but I heard they are talking about a Top Boy Chicago,” Walters said.

The highly sought after show, which aired in October 2011, ended with a dramatic cliff-hanger with Walters character fleeing from the Albanian gangsters and ended after eight episodes on 10th September 2013.

The popularity of the show came as no surprise as it was back for a 2nd series two years after its debut, with 4 episodes in each.

How long will it be until we get a 3rd series ? Make it happen Mr Drizzy Drake!
