The DOWNTON ABBEY world premiere took place in a soggy London on Monday evening for the highly anticipated film starring Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael to name but a few.

The cast and crew (and there’s a lot of cast members!) took to the red carpet at the capital’s Leicester Square to talk all things Downton Abbey. The stars eagerly spoke to waiting fans posing for photos, signing autographs and chatted to the media.

The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country home.  Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, a Special BAFTA award and 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.

It seems like it has been so long since we last saw them on the small screen, but now we are more than excited to have them back once again and this time they are making their big screen debut! Very little has been revealed about the synopsis of the movie. but with the release of the four new character posters featuring Mary (Michelle Dockery), Edith (Laura Carmichael), Andy (Michael C. Fox), and Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier) it is now more real than ever that WE ARE FINALLY GETTING THE MOVIE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!
