Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, A.K.A JESSICA JONES, is continuing to get better – and now they have added a new addition to their casting ensemble – David Tennant.
Krysten Ritter has been cast in the lead role and Mike Colter will play Luke Cage and now we will see Doctor Who‘s own David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, otherwise known as the villainous Purple Man.
The series finds Jones still picking up the pieces after a short-lived stint as a super hero. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after using her powers, she decides to leave the life behind. But she doesn’t entirely forsake her past: she opens up a detective agency, which tackles cases for both ordinary people and superheroes.
Tennant’s Yugoslavian-born Zebediah Kilgrave, otherwise known as The Purple Man, doesn’t have the pedigree of, say, Doctor Doom, but he’s a formidable foe nonetheless. He has the power to cause chemically-induced mind control in his victims, and has had numerous run-ins with Marvel’s superheroes over the years. His relationship with Jessica Jones is particularly sinister, however, since it was the effects of her being brainwashed by the villain that made her hang up her superhero costume altogether.
Lots of exciting plot lines to look forward to here then! A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which is the second of the series to be developed by Marvel and Netflix, is planned to hit the streaming series later this year.Â
