While many tune in to the BAFTAS to see the list of potential winners (and what they are wearing!) sometimes other key people get lost in the excitement.
David Beckham, Tom Hiddleston and Henry Cavill have joined the list of names of presenters who will appear at the BAFTAs to hand out the sought after British Awards. The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on February 8 at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
The footballing legend will join the Superman actor alongside Julie Walters in announcing the winners onstage and presenting them with their award.
As well as these key three presenters the BAFTAS have lined up many famous names to join them in presenting including Hayley Atwell, John Boyega, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer, Chris Evans, Alice Eve, Phoebe Fox, Martin Freeman, Cuba Gooding Jr., Holliday Grainger, Olivia Grant, Sally Hawkins, Tom Hiddleston, Nimrat Kaur, George MacKay, Dougray Scott, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Mark Strong.
However all eyes will still be firmly gazed upon the glamourous nominees who will arrive in the hopes of receiving this esteemed award.
So far viewers can expect to see Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Felicity Jones, Julianne Moore and Rosamund Pike compete to win Best Actress, and no doubt Best Dressed, when they arrive on the red carpet.
Similarly the Best Actor award sees acclaimed actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Keaton and Eddie Redmayne all being considered for the award, which will no doubt be a hard choice to make.
It not all about the individual actors at this year’s BAFTAS, with films such as BIRDMAN, BOYHOOD, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING and THE IMITATION GAME all up for Best Film this year.
Another achievement that will be highlighted at The BAFTAS is the fellowship award, which will see Mike Leigh receive this honour; an honour previously won by talents such as Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Judi Dench and more.
The Mr. Turner filmmaker says: ‘What a privilege to be honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship. I’m moved, delighted and surprised.’
Although Mike Leigh may be surprised by his nomination, fans of the cinema screen will find no surprise in the predictions that Benedict Cumberbatch is set to scoop the award for best actor this year!
Stephen Fry will present the ceremony which will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One – Don’t forget to tune in!
